Bio:
When the band Pyramid broke up, Phil Clark, and Mark Rigsby, went with Tim Fleischer to form a new band called The Works. The Works was Phil, Mark, and Tim along with Roger Alton and Mike Maiberger from the old Skyline band. The Works was a talented and seasoned  group of musicians, and from the first rehearsal they had a distinctive and professional sound that contributed to their success.

A brand new oldies station,  WBNS-FM B97, was searching for a band to represent them, and happened upon The Works one Friday night at Planks. The band fit the format of the station perfectly and a deal was struck between B97and the band. It was during this period when Tim, Roger, Mark, and Mike teamed up with Peter Noone (of Herman's Hermits) to play a 4th of July concert at the Park of Roses in Clintonville in 1993.  The band also played weekly at B97 tailgate parties on the OSU campus.

The relationship between the Works and B97 suffered continuous problems that could never seem to get resolved. The station made promises that were routinely broken - advertising commitments, promotional appearances, etc. Several attempts were made to salvage the relationship, but they were all in vane.

Not long after the gig with Peter Noone, further problems plagued the band with the need to replace members. Due to family and business commitments,  Mark was replaced by Kelley Wells, and Mike was replaced by Tommy Hammond.  With Mike now gone, it became necessary to shore up the vocal side of the group. Gloria Carpenter had sat in one night at Planks and eventually was hired as female vocalist to front the band. Though these changes created a temporary set back, the band was able to quickly get back on track.

As a last ditch effort to salvage the relationship with B97, On June 18th 1994 The Works opened for a B97 appreciation day concert with The Turtles, The Drifters, and Gary Puckett. Though the concert was a huge success, the band  finally realized that the relationship with B97 was a one sided arrangement that would never get any better. Ties were soon severed with B97.

In January of '95 The Works recorded a CD at Musicol Studios in Columbus, Ohio. Soon after these recording sessions, another change occurred. Sax player Phil Clark could not commit to playing with one band. Often times booking conflicts would occur and it became necessary to let him go.

One year after the CD in January of 1996, The Works broke up. It was at that time that Tim and Mike reincarnated Skyline under the new name of The Skyline Duo.
